About Medway Eyes

Medway Eyes is an independent, grass-roots creative collective with an inclusive, community-based approach to the arts and a clear DIY ethic. Established in 2008 to put together an exhibition featuring nineteen local photographers, Medway Eyes has evolved to include music and more traditional art forms into its events and is now a charity, operating on a not-for-loss basis under the guidance of a team of eight trustees.

The possibilities to extend Medway Eyes into communities, to make art more accessible put real fire in our bellies and have inspired a catalogue of events and happenings that we are really proud of.

Our first three years have seen us invited to talk to college students and onto radio shows and podcasts, and put together ten exhibitions, innumerable live music events, two (soon to be three) downloadable fundraiser albums, a photo walk to publicise photographers’ rights, community picnics and The Medway Broadside, a semi-annual independent newas and culture publication that you can find online at www.themedwaybroadside.com

We aim to promote art in all its forms in the spirit of community, inclusiveness, authenticity and accessibility, and in the pursuit of happiness.

This blog is where we publicise the events we put on, serving as a one stop shop for press and public alike.

We live at www.medwayeyes.co.uk, as well as on Facebook, and Twitter, and you can contact us at medwayeyes@gmail.com.
